Fitting Guide

HempWood® flooring has a tongue and groove fitting system so can easily be installed by any professional wooden floor fitter. Below is a guide to laying HempWood® flooring. Please always read the full installation instructions before starting to fit your new HempWood® floor.

Preparation

Careful preparation is needed before installing any HempWood® flooring. The subfloor must be clean, level and dry. If you have a newly laid concrete subfloor you must check for moisture using a concrete moisture meter.

HempWood® flooring is a natural product so will need time to acclimatise to its surroundings.

Installation for Commercial Properties

For commercial properties the HempWood® flooring needs to be fixed to the subfloor to give maximum stability. You can either secret nail the planks of flooring down, or glue the HempWood® to the subfloor ensuring a full surface bond.

Installation for Residential Properties

For residential properties you can either secret nail the planks of flooring down, or glue the HempWood® to the subfloor ensuring a full surface bond. Alternatively you can float your HempWood® over an underlay if desired.

Expansion Gap

Regardless of whether the HempWood® is being installed in a commercial or residential property, an expansion gap of at least 10mm should be left around the perimeter of the room, including doorways, fireplaces and any pipework.
